West Inverclyde Sec, Greenock
Working with Barr Construction at the new West Inverclyde Secondary, Fairways Sportsgrounds installed both a full size sand-filled multi use 2nd Generation synthetic pitch and an identical standard seven-a-side one. These two new artificial surfaces give the schools' PE staff considerable flexibilty to deliver the curriculum of sporting activities across all year groups, particularly during prolonged periods of inclement weather. The school also opted for a new full size natural grass pitch which means the Greenock school's facilities offer the students the best of both worlds. Our photos show the artificial surfaces in development - the first image shows the 2nd Generation sand filled synthetic surface as it is being laid over the in-situ rubber shock pad. The next image shows the previous stage where the laser-graded tarmac is precisely rolled and the third image gives an up-close look at the quality of the foundation stone itself.
