Fairways Sportsgrounds surprised the pupils at Jordanhill School with a new MUGA surface when they returned after the Easter 2018 break. The Glasgow School had asked the existing tarmac multi-use games area to be upgraded with minimal disruption.
Dave Gibson, Fairways Sportsgrounds Contracts Director said: “We had two weeks and fortunately all went to plan despite major rainfall.
“We knew the tarmac base was sound so on top we laid a Trocellen shockpad which offers shock absorption and high stability thanks to its XC-cut system. Next we installed an Edelgrass Diamondblade surface. This is a popular premium carpet for intense use, so absolutely suited for purpose. Then it was just a matter of re-using existing goal posts and making good the finish.”
The project was overseen by consultants STRI. Jordanhill School Bursar, Wendy Grant, said: “It makes a real difference. Those unaware of the project were happily shocked at the transformation. It gives lots more opportunity for our young people in both Primary and Secondary to enjoy sport and outdoor activities.”
