Fairways Sportsgrounds and carpet partners, Edel Grass have introduced the 'Triple-T' system to the UK which has been hailed as the most innovative hockey surface in the world to date.
The 'Triple-T' system is not just endorsed by Dutch superstar, Taeke Taekema, but named after him! It combines the technologies of a world class synthetic carpet with a unique sub base.offering an unrivalled playing surface.
More than one million fibres make up each square metre of artificial grass. When this revolutionary carpet is laid on a special shock-absorbing base - made out of closed-cell foam - the 'Triple-T' system is created.
The water-based surface needs to be dampened during play and this new system features the patented Edel Grass 'Low/NoH20®' technology, so uses a very frugal 8m³. Water consumption is much reduced benefiting the environment and significantly lowering operating costs.
All the highest international quality standards are met and it is certificated by hockey's governing body, the Federation of International Hockey. In 2009 a similar pitch was built at Accra, Ghana for play in the Africa Hockey Cup of Nations. European and Dutch field hockey champions, H.C. Bloemendaal, also have one as their main pitch.
Fairways Sportsgrounds completed Britain's first such pitch at the National Centre, Inverclyde. (See Projects)
