|sportScotland National Centre, Largs
Spring 2018 sees the third of three projects for sportScotland, the organisation tasked with maximising Scotland's sporting potential. Interestingly for Fairways Sportsgrounds, each of the schemes has been for a different discipline.
First project was a natural grass football pitch for national team training. Works included earthworks, installing a primary piped drainage system, top soiling, sand amelioration and seeding. Maintenance and establishment works followed. Finally the secondary sand slit drainage system and a 5 m high ball catching system were added.
Second project was installing one of the world's leading hockey surfaces for the National Centre in Largs, Ayrshire.
Hailed as the most innovative synthetic hockey field when installed - 'The 'Triple-T' system - was the first pitch of its kind in the UK and only the third in the world. The revolutionary water-based hockey pitch uses the 'Triple-T' synthetic turf system by Edel Grass, Fairways Sportsgrounds' carpet partners.
Now Fairways Sportsgrounds is working on a golf practice facility at the Inverclyde site installing synthetic and natural grass tees.
