Press Releases University of Edinburgh chooses Triple-T for Peffermill, home of National Hockey Academy The University of Edinburgh has commissioned Fairways Sportsgrounds to resurface its present water based pitch at Peffermill Playing Fields with the state-of-the-art 'Triple-T' system, starting in the summer. The site incorporates the National Hockey Academy, run by Scottish Hockey and is just 2 ½ miles from the city centre. April 12, 2010 World class facility for sportScotland National Centre, Inverclyde The sportScotland National Centre, for Scotland's elite athletes and teams, is the first site anywhere in Britain to use the "Triple-T" hockey surface. The new installation is a revolutionary water-based hockey pitch which uses the "Triple-T" synthetic turf system by Edel Grass, Fairways Sportsgrounds' carpet partners. What makes "Triple-T" so unique is that there are more than 1 million fibres in each square metre of artificial grass. Because it is such a dense and stable surface, the hockey ball runs truly, with players reporting good grip in both wet and dry conditions. Fairways Sportsgrounds brings 'Triple T' to sportScotland National Centre Work will begin in March 2010 on the UK's first installation of a revolutionary water-based hockey pitch at the sportScotland National Centre, Inverclyde, Ayrshire. The "Triple-T" synthetic turf system by Edel Grass, Fairways Sportsgrounds' carpet partners, is one of the most coveted artificial systems available and this will be only the third site in the world to benefit from this pioneering technology - the others being in Ghana and in Holland. Work is expected to be completed by early April, 2010.
